Impact of Your Donations

Attention Homes is a community-based, at-risk youth-focused organization. Founded in 1966 by a group of concerned citizens, Attention Homes was created for at-risk youth to find “attention, not detention.” Since that time, over 7,000 boys and girls have benefited from the care Attention Homes provided them. Here are some of their success stories.

Community Support

The support of many local businesses, faith and civic groups, foundations, city and county entities, associations and individuals make it possible for Attention Homes to provide 365/24/7 care to runaway, homeless and at-risk youth.  Your support helps Attention Homes provide the following services:

  • Shelter, safety and security
  • Healthy meals, clothing, showers and laundry
  • Lessons in life skills
  • Positive adult role models
  • Case management and counseling for residents and families, and in-house groups
  • Help finding part-time employment and accessing education
  • Help learning to make responsible decisions
  • Recreational/cultural activities and experiential education
  • Access to physical, mental and dental health care

Expanded Services and Increased Costs

  • Opened in December, 2010, Attention Homes operates the only youth overnight emergency shelter in Boulder County.  Our new Runaway & Homeless Youth (RHY) program helps youth living on the streets transition to long-term housing and/or family reunification.
  • Due to program expansion Attention Homes’ budget has increased by 28% over two years (from $772,668 in 2010 to $1,076,842 in 2012).

Fiscal Responsibility

  • Resource allocation to program needs increased significantly in 2011 due to program expansion through efficiencies realized with decreases in fundraising and administrative overhead (agency fundraising and administrative expenses relative to overall expenses decreased from 2010 to 2011).
  • Over the past five years, Attention Homes has built a 4-6 month operating reserve. This reserve is in place to weather financial hardship and/or economic decline.
